📌 Official Metric Conversion Guide & Formula Reference
Quarter 2 • Keep for Reference!
📏 Length (Haba)
1 km = 1,000 m
1 m = 100 cm | 1 cm = 10 mm
Larger → Smaller × factor (10, 100, 1,000)
Smaller → Larger ÷ factor
⚖️ Mass / Weight (Bigat)
1 kilogram (kg) = 1,000 grams (g)
1 gram (g) = 1,000 mg
Tip: "Kilo" means 1,000.
To convert kg → g, multiply by 1,000.
To convert g → kg, divide by 1,000.
🧪 Capacity (Kapasidad)
1 Liter (L) = 1,000 milliliters (mL)
½ L = 500 mL | ¼ L = 250 mL
Tip: "Milli" means 1/1,000.
3 zeros in 1,000! Watch place values:
4 L 50 mL = 4,050 mL (not 450 mL).

⏱️ DepEd MATATAG Key Stage 2 Measurement Rubric
🏆 Measurement Master (Advanced)
Score: 61 – 68 Points (≥ 90%)
Rapid conversion across length, mass, and capacity; handles place-value zeros and word problems accurately.
👍 Proficient Learner
Score: 51 – 60 Points (75% – 89%)
Demonstrates clear understanding of conversion factors (× 1,000, × 100); occasional minor calculation errors.
📖 Needs Practice (Intervention)
Score: Below 51 Points (< 75%)
Confuses multiplication vs. division directions or misses place-value zeros (e.g., 5 kg 40 g → 540 g). Needs chart drills.
💡 Pedagogical Tips for Mentors:
• Place Value Zeros Alert: When converting compound units (e.g., 8 m 5 cm or 6 L 8 mL), remind students that 1 m = 100 cm (2 zeros) and 1 L = 1,000 mL (3 zeros). Missing zeros are the #1 source of exam errors!
• Visual Conversion Rule: "Big to Small = Multiply (it grows in number of units); Small to Big = Divide (it shrinks in number of units)."
